A Visionary Path
Born in 1960 in a small village in Mangalore, Dr Durgadas Asranna completed his MBBS from KMC Mangalore and MD in OBG from KIMS Hubli. He has completed his Fellowship in Infertility from Kerala, also his Fellowship in Laparoscopic surgery.
In 1993, Dr. Durgadas’s vision came to life with the establishment of a small 5-bedded nursing home that would eventually evolve into the esteemed 100 bedded Kasturba Hospital. Fuelled by his deep-rooted empathy and a desire to make quality healthcare accessible to all, he embarked on a remarkable journey of growth and transformation. Through his dedication and hard work, he nurtured the hospital's expansion into a multi-specialty institution, one that has become synonymous with excellence and compassion.
A Catalyst for Change
Dr. Durgadas's profound impact goes beyond bricks and mortar. His steadfast dedication to the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has not only shaped the hospital's core specialization but has also empowered countless women and families. His tireless efforts to create a nurturing environment for expectant mothers, coupled with his expertise in infertility treatments, have redefined possibilities and brought joy to families across the region.
Other than this hectic schedule of being a gynaecologist, Dr Durgadas is also the founder chairman of Varadaraja Group of Institutions, established in 2003, and has student strength of more than 1,200. The institution offers courses in Nursing, Pharmacy, Paramedical, Allied Health Sciences and Commerce.
It is the pride of Kasturba Hospital, that its Medical Director Dr. Durgadas has been recognised for his expertise state-wide and on the national level, and he is honoured as the President of TSOG (Tumkur Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology), the Treasurer of KSOGA(Karnataka Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and a life member of FOGSI (The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India).
He has performed over 18,000 deliveries, 8,500 plus hysterectomies and more than 5,000 laparoscopic surgeries and over 25,000 minor procedures. Dr. Durgadas has the credit of treating over 6 lakh outpatients and 1.2 lakh in-patients.
